Larry G. Simons, 79, passed away Wednesday, April 10th, 2024 in the home he built for his family in Park City. Larry was born in Garland, Kansas on September 4, 1944; the middle child of seven to Clifford and Zelma Simons. He moved to Montana with his family in 1946 living in Rapelji and later in Park City. Larry married his wife of 50 years, Doloris (Dee) Hickey on December 11th, 1973. They had two children, Scott and Leslie. Larry worked many years as a truck driver, retiring from Consolidated Freightways in 2000. He continued driving part-time for local businesses for several more years. Larry was a self-taught carpenter and mechanic having built his Park City home and restoring his dream car, a ’68 Mercury Cougar. Small Town Montana was the perfect place for Larry who loved all things outdoors; boating, fishing, hunting and camping with family and friends especially brother Jerry and nephew Jimmy. Larry was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers Dean, Jim, and Jerry; sisters Carolyn Wiess and Sharon Collum, sister-in-law’s Sue Simons and Delores Simons; brother-in-law Wayne Collum and in-laws Nolen and Wilma Hickey. Left to cherish Larry’s memory is his wife Dee, son Scott, daughter Leslie, much enjoyed and cherished granddaughter Madison and Kenzie Simons; brother Richard (Sharon), sister-in-law Betty Simons, brother-in-law Dave Wiess, and many more nieces and nephews. A special “thank you” to all the family and friends for their visits, support, and kindness during the past three months and to Madison and Kenzie for keeping their Papa “on-the-go” to their activities and sporting events. Memorial contributions may be made in Larry’s name to the Park City American Legion Post 100 Park City Montana 59063 or to a charity of your choice. A graveside service will be held on April 20th, 2024 at 3 p.m. at Park City Cemetery, Park City, Montana. A reception at the Park City Civic Center will follow graveside services.
